Pick-up: The movers did not arrive on the schedule time of the pick up and ultimately not even on the scheduled day. We live in a downtown high rise (on the 21st floor) and had to book our freight elevator to help with the move. In addition, we had planned a trip to visit family and friends around the move, planning to leave town the day of. The movers NEVER called to let us know that they would not be showing up on their scheduled day. Glenda, our "move coordinator" was virtually unreachable. Dan was of no help. When we did finally manage to get through to her she reassured us that the movers would come that day, which they never did ruining our travel itinerary, forcing us to pay for an extra days rent, and stay at a hotel because we did not have electricity.

Johnson Storage & Moving just denied our claim involving their loss of a family heirloom and a cherished gift from a beloved friend. They did not deny losing the items. They said we did "not note" the missing items on the day our belongings were delivered. Everyone knows it takes time to fully unpack and complete an inventory of all items -- NOW WE KNOW WHY THEY MAKE YOU SIGN FOR THINGS THE SAME DAY THEY DELIVER!! We strongly urge others to avoid Johnson Storage & Moving Company if you want to do business with a reputable and caring moving partner. Shame on you Johnson Storage!!!! And, by the way, we would have given them a ZERO star rating if they allowed a score that low to be posted on this review rating.

Delivery: Dan assured us that we would be top priority because of the mishaps. This was not the case. The delivery was delayed 5 weeks (3 weeks past the last date of the delivery window) because of the disorganization of this company, despite repeated phone calls from the customer service at the Mayflower HQ. They went on to even lie to us and to Mayflower HQ. This is documented, and in particular it was Chloe, Joe Valdez, and Glenda.

Consultation: Dan Uhle, while a nice guy on the surface, is a snake oil salesman. He did not show up on our appointment date for consultation, in hindsight that should have been a red flag. When he did show up he was nice, and we decided to go with him because of his demeanor. Please don't fall for it. When he had us sign the contract he estimated the weight of our cargo at 3450 lbs (in the fine print you can only claim for compensation for a delay in pick up or delivery with a minimum cargo of 3500 lbs - a fact that he knew full well and did not divulge). He also nonchalantly had us waive our rights on obtaining the actual weight of our cargo. I do take responsibility for not doing my DD but I did trust him when he said that this would cause a delay and that they were a responsible company so this was not a necessity.

Move: Movers showed up 2 hours behind schedule, despite us being the first move of the day. We have told them that we only had the freight elevator for half the day because they are booked well in advance and there was another move planned that day. The movers were unprofessional, they took frequent breaks, even going up to our rooftop to snapchat with some the residents of the building. This led me to have to pack and move our cargo myself because of the time constraints with the freight elevator and long journey ahead of us, since we had to alter our travel itinerary.

I strongly urge you to stay as far away from this company as possible, whether its a local move to a long distance move subcontracted by Mayflower/United. They were dishonest, disloyal, and at times even deceitful throughout our entire move. I will outline the problems without move, and if you want specifics don't hesitate to get in touch with me and I will be happy to provide them to you.

When they finally finished and were leaving I noticed they were throwing packing paper into my rubbish bin. When I went to investigate I realized that contained within the packing paper they were throwing away was an item of my artwork worth several hundred dollars. Given the weight of the artwork (wooden frame and glass), I can only assume this was a conscious decision on their part to discard an item of my personal belongings rather than to return to pack the item correctly.

AVOID. Was allocated this "local" company for an international shipment.

I highly recommend their services.

They wanted to "accommodate us" by scheduling the move 3 days later. This was not possible because we did not have the apartment. We reiterated this and they reluctantly scheduled for the next day.

I do have to preface that Mayflower (the company we had contracted with) did recognize the faults of Johnson Storage, were sympathetic, and worked with us. They truly feel bad that were essentially cheated by Johnson Storage.

Very good service across New Orleans ! I recommend them to all my real estate clients ....

When our furniture finally arrived, approximately 1/4 of it was visibly damaged, and a number of items unrepairable (please ask me for specifics and I will be happy to provide pictures). A number of our items remain missing, and we are now 7 weeks from our initial pick up.

Do yourself a favor and stay FAR away. We are talking to BBB and Mayflower HQ regarding this company and in particular the personnel that I mentioned.

One of the two individuals allocated to pack my personal items stole a bottle of alcohol (spirits) and proceeded to drink the alcohol whilst on the job. He then proceeded to attempt to continue working, whilst intoxicated, resulting in me having to try to restrain him from injuring either himself and/or my personal property for between 3 and 4 hours. During this time the other individual continued to work, whilst not acknowledging the drunken state of her co-worker (other than to ask him to twice "go sit in the truck") - leaving it to me to "babysit".

As a Realtor, I'm very particular. The entire Johnson Storage & Moving Company were terrific. The driver, Michael Graham was wonderful! All the boxes arrived and NOTHING was broken!

I never received an apology from Johnson United for either event, and was charged the full amount quoted for the packing service - despite both of the above events.

Know that this was only a 700 mile +/- move, not a long, transcontinental move. The delivery team was fantastic (Virginia local movers subcontracted by Mayflower). They too felt sympathy for the way we were treated.
